Day 4: Fez City Tour With A Local Guide

After breakfast, your driver and local guide in Fez will meet you at your hotel to begin your city tour, which is often divided into two parts:

By Car:

  • Learn about the stunning design of the Royal Palace, which features seven golden gates. Then, enjoy a tour of the Mellah, or Jewish neighborhood, which was built near the Palace to offer security.
  • Take in the cityscape from the Southern Tower, a historic fortress, and one of the lookouts on a hill from which you can see the whole layout of Fez, allowing you to find spots that would otherwise be covered by skyline-obscuring structures.
  • Visit a pottery sector to witness how the unique Fez pottery is made, as well as handmade the exquisite mosaics that amaze half of Morocco.

This unique school, founded in 859 CE, holds the prestigious distinction of being the world’s oldest degree-granting university still in operation today. It’s even more remarkable since it was designed by a visionary woman, transforming it into a symbol of feminine strength and wisdom.
  • See why Fez is recognized as Morocco’s crafts capital by visiting handicraft workshops. This can include, for example, the silk weavers, who weave beautifully colorful fabrics from agave plant silk fibers, and the famous Fez tannery, where they process all manner of animal hides by hand, as they have for nearly 1000 years, and sell leather items in every shade and style…
